We may not get a white Christmas in Fort Lauderdale but Christmas on Las Olas does have a huge pile of ice to sled down. What our lovely city lacks in wintry weather it definitely makes up for in holiday cheer. There are so many great events and local traditions during this time of year and we wanted to share a few of our favorites. If we missed any of your favorites please comment below and let us know!
East Las Olas Blvd | November 29th 5:00-10:00pm
A favorite Fort Lauderdale tradition on the festive blocks of Las Olas. You can expect to see local choirs caroling, a snow sledding mountain, Santa sightings, and over 60 food, beverage, and holiday booths. The event is free but parking is tricky, so check out the parking map here.
December 10th 6:30pm
Hundreds of decorated boats and yachts float down the 12 mile route along the New River downtown and up the Intracoastal to Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach. Our Boat Parade is listed as one of the top 20 parades in the world and with more than 1 million live viewers, it's considered the seventh largest spectator event in the U.S.- so make reservations, buy tickets, or have a plan early because this event is huge. Check when the bridges go up here so you don't get stuck in traffic and check out this neat behind the scenes look at the people who make this magical event a reality.

Enjoy Christmas music, popcorn, and holiday drinks aboard the double-decker Water Taxi as you view the spectacularly decorated waterfront homes of Fort Lauderdale.

Hop on and off the Sun Trolley for a self-guided tour of eight historic Fort Lauderdale properties beautifully decorated for the season. The tour includes the Annie Beck House, Marshall House, Needham Estate, Fort Lauderdale Fire & Safety Museum and more. Proceeds benefit the Broward Trust for Historic Preservation, Fort Lauderdale Junior Woman’s Club, and the Fort Lauderdale Fire & Safety Museum.
Tradewinds Park | Open nightly 6:00-10:00pm, November 18th - January 1st
Every year over 150,000 visitors drive through these 3 miles of giant animated holiday displays and illuminated trees at Tradewinds Park.
First Baptist Fort Lauderdale | December 2nd- December 18th
This production has been a cherished Fort Lauderdale tradition for over 30 years. The show features traditional carols and contemporary songs as well as a musical nativity drama with live animals and hundreds of cast members that practice for months on an incredible Broadway-worthy set.
Lauderdale-By-The-Sea | December 7th 5:30-9:00pm
Small town annual celebration with carolers, a Yuletide market, holiday window displays and fun for the whole family. This beachfront event brings the best of South Florida Christmastime to the breezy streets of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea in Anglin's Square. Santa arrives at 6:00 pm!
December 18th at 7:30am | $35 Adults; $25 Child
This unique annual event is sure to make you jolly. It's a race down Las Olas Blvd and all participants receive a Santa suit costume and jingle bells for their running shoes! Participants and onlookers are invited to enjoy eggnog and holiday cookies at Huizenga Plaza after the race. (And don't forget that you can bring your pet to run too!)
